Steve Charnovitz, a law professor at George Washington University, died on March 23 at the age of 71, according to his obituary. Charnovitz frequently wrote about topics in international trade and international law, serving as an author, co-author or editor of four books and over 274 articles, essays and book reviews. Prior to joining George Washington's faculty in 2004, Charnovitz practiced law at WilmerHale and, before that, served as director of the Global Environment & Trade Study at Yale University. He also worked as policy director at the Competitiveness Policy Council from 1991 to 1995, issuing four reports to Congress and the president, and, from 1987 to 1991, he worked as a legislative assistant to the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
