Mediation Unsuccessful in Kingtom's Suit Against Forced Labor Finding
Mediation at the Court of International Trade in Dominican exporter Kingtom Aluminio's challenge to CBP's finding that the company makes aluminum extrusions using forced labor didn't result in a settlement. Judge Leo Gordon submitted a report of mediation on March 28 to the trade court noting the failed outcome of the mediation bid (Kingtom Aluminio v. United States, CIT # 24-00264).

CBP issued its finding last year that Kingtom was using forced labor, blocking shipments from the company from entering the U.S. (see 2412030017). The exporter sued, claiming that the decision wasn't backed by sufficient evidence (see 2412260036). Kingtom asked the trade court for an expedited resolution to the case, though it entered mediation before receiving an answer from the court on this motion.
