Dutch Construction Firm Pays Nearly $2M to Settle Sanctions Violation Charges

Dutch construction equipment maker Dieseko Group paid over $1.94 million to settle allegations that it violated sanctions on Russia, the Dutch Public Prosecution Service announced, according to an unofficial translation. Dieseko was found by Dutch authorities to have "sold pile drivers and associated parts" for the construction of a bridge in Crimea from 2015-16 and also provided technical assistance for the goods.

The settlement amount included a fine of over $196,000 and over $1.74 million in confiscated profits from the sale of the goods. The prosector's office acknowledged the remedial steps and compliance measures taken by Dieseko to ward against the "re-commitment of criminal offenses."

The office said it took account of the number of criminal offenses, the years that have elapsed since the offenses took place and Dieseko's cooperation with authorities when determining the penalty.
