Japan Sanctions 12 for Procuring North Korean Arms for Russia

Japan sanctioned one Russian national, nine Russian entities and two Cypriot entities last week for their roles in aiding Russia's procurement of arms from North Korea, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced, according to an unofficial translation.

The Russian individual is Vladimir Mikheychik, general director of Open Joint Stock Company State Airline 224th Flight Detachment. That company and MG-Flot, M Leasing, Azia Shipping Co., Vostochnaya Stevedoring Co., Dunay Probable Naval Missile Facility, Command of the Military Transport Aviation, Vladimirovka Advanced Weapons and Research Complex and Ashuluk Firing Range also were listed.

The two Cypriot companies are IBEX Shipping and Azia Shipping Holdings.
