U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued separate notices on the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement's (UCFTA, or CFTA) 2005 Tariff Preference Levels (TPLs) for imports from Chile of certain cotton and man-made fiber (MMF) apparel goods and certain cotton/MMF fabric goods, as described below.
CBP CROSS Rulings
CBP issues binding advance rulings in connection with the importation of merchandise into the United States. They issue the rulings to give the trade community transparency of how CBP will treat a prospective import or carrier transaction. Common rulings include the tariff classification, country of origin, or free trade agreement applicability of merchandise, among other things. These rulings are available in CBP's Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS) database.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a press release announcing that on December 9, 2004, the World Customs Organization (WCO) endorsed a Framework of Standards to secure and facilitate global trade that is based upon principles designed and implemented by CBP.
In the December 8, 2004 issue of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Bulletin (CBP Bulletin) (Vol. 38, No. 50), CBP issued notices: (a) proposing to modify a classification ruling on silymarin (milk thistle) and leucoanthocyanin, and (b) revoking or modifying three classification rulings on certain hats of fine animal. CBP states that it is also revoking, or proposing to revoke, any treatment it has previously accorded to substantially identical transactions that are contrary to its position in these notices.
