The additional staff will be primarily focused on entry writing, trade compliance and customer advisory roles, Robertson said, noting that this investment "is directly tied to the increasing complexity in the U.S. import environment -- including the recent elimination of de minimis exemptions and the introduction of new reciprocal tariff structures." Other measures, such as stricter transshipment rules and the evolving sections 301 and 232 tariffs landscape, warrant this attention, according to Robertson.
"To support this growth, we’ve strengthened our internal onboarding and training programs to rapidly upskill entry-level hires, while also helping experienced talent advance toward licensed customs broker status. This is a critical area where we continue to invest to meet growing demand," Robertson said. DHL's customs processing capacity will grow by nearly 40%, and the additional staffing will complement efforts to incorporate AI tools in DHL's customs offerings, he said.
