Trump Threatens Section 301 Investigation Over EU Fines on Tech Companies

President Donald Trump posted on social media over the weekend that if the EU doesn't stop its "discriminatory actions" of fines against Apple, Google and other tech companies, "I will be forced to start a Section 301 proceeding to nullify the unfair penalties being charged to these Taxpaying American Companies" (see 2509050071).

Trump was reacting to a $3.5 billion fine against Google by the EU for anti-competitive practices in selling online advertisements.

Trump said all the EU fines against Google have added up to $16.5 billion. He wrote: "How crazy is that? The European Union must stop this practice against American Companies, IMMEDIATELY!"
