House Bill Could Lead to Sanctions on Africa’s Polisario Front
Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., introduced a bill June 24 that would direct the executive branch to determine whether it should designate the Polisario Front as a foreign terrorist organization and sanction the Algeria-based paramilitary group.

The Polisario Front Terrorist Designation Act, which is co-sponsored by Rep. Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., was referred to the House Foreign Affairs and Judiciary committees.
A think-tank recently accused the Polisario Front of destabilizing North Africa (see 2504230004). Iran has reportedly trained and equipped the group.
