"Keeping advanced AI chips out of the hands of the Chinese Communists isn’t about business, it’s a national security issue," Cotton said in a social media post. "A word of warning to companies like @nvidia, anyone who breaks the law and circumvents export controls will be held accountable."

Cotton said the Chip Security Act (see 2505090015 and 2505150035), a bill he introduced last month, will "protect our advanced AI technology while increasing export opportunities for US companies." The bill would require export-controlled advanced computing chips to contain location verification mechanisms, and it would direct U.S. agencies to study the possibility of mandating other potential chip security mechanisms.
