Nokia, ZTE and Ericsson Lead on 5G Private Networks: Omdia

Nokia, ZTE and Ericsson are the top three in the 5G private network sector, Omdia said in a Wednesday report. The market presents “significant challenges for vendors and service providers,” the report said: “Vendors now recognize that private networks are highly specialized and require a few focused partners -- not a wide distribution channel -- to drive market growth.”

Pablo Tomasi, an Omdia principal analyst-private networks and enterprise 5G, said the vendors are targeting different markets. Nokia and ZTE “offer industrial applications and integration capabilities,” he said. “Ericsson and Celona are addressing indoor coverage challenges through neutral host networks,” while Huawei Enterprise Wireless “is evolving railway operations through wide area critical network deployments.”
