New Senate Bill Would Sanction Chinese Police Stations Operating in US
Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., introduced a bill Dec. 3 to impose sanctions on Chinese police departments that operate in the U.S. or try to do so.

His Expel Illegal Chinese Police Act also would sanction those who monitor or intimidate people in the U.S. on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party’s United Front Work Department. The bill was referred to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
DOJ announced last year that two people had been arrested for operating an illegal Chinese police station in New York City. The station was intended to monitor and intimidate Chinese dissidents, DOJ said. The United Front Work Department also has been accused of operating in the U.S. (see 2403140069).
