CBP used to collect payment only at the port of entry where the cargo was released, according to the agency. This was prior to Collections Release 7 in ACE. But now, payment may be sent to other locations, CBP said.

Entry summary payments are processed on the 10th day to ensure timely payment: "Filers have the option to take their entry off statement and pay with other means (cash or check) on the tenth day to ensure timely payment," CBP said.

More information on which service ports and additional ports of entry may receive initial payments is available in the CSMS message.

CBP said this "flexibility does not apply to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, which must continue to be processed separately by their own respective Ports."
