Biden Reviewing Many ‘Options’ in Response to Navalny Death
The Biden administration is considering “a whole number of options” to respond to the reported death in prison of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, President Joe Biden told reporters on Feb. 16 when asked if he is looking at increasing sanctions on Russia.

"We don't know exactly what happened, but there is no doubt that the death of Navalny was a consequence of something that [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and his thugs did," Biden said.
The administration imposed a host of sanctions against Russia in 2021 in response to the poisoning and imprisonment of Navalny (see 2103020067 and 2108230061).
Many lawmakers spoke out about Navalny’s apparent death, with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, saying “the Kremlin must be held to account for this outrage.”
