At least one platform, Meta, has “fallen short” on its responsibilities for proactively removing products deemed dangerous by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, they wrote. They also sent letters to eBay, TikTok, BikeList, Etsy, Goldin, Kidzen, Marcari, OfferUp, Poshmark, Reverb, Pinduoduo, Alibaba and Shein. They asked for specific details about how the companies are removing products the CPSC has flagged. Meta said in a statement Tuesday: “Like other platforms where people can buy and sell goods, there are instances of people knowingly or unknowingly selling recalled goods on Marketplace. We take this issue seriously and when we find listings that violate our rules, we remove them.”
