Census Offers AES Tips for USPPI Address Code, Shipping Weight Errors
The Census Bureau emailed tips May 18 on how to address the most frequent messages generated this month in the Automated Export System.

Response code 256 is a fatal error for when the postal code and state code reported in the U.S. Principal Party in Interest address don’t match. Census said the reported USPPI state code must match the state associated with the postal code, and filers should verify the code combination, correct the shipment and resubmit.
Response code 522 is a fatal error for when the shipping weight exceeds the “maximum threshold allowed for an air shipment.” The maximum shipping weight allowed for an air shipment is 150,000 kilograms “for other than fly-away aircraft,” Census said. The filer should verify the shipping weight and mode of transportation, correct the shipment and resubmit.
