for many years and the state doesn’t participate in the national lifeline accountability database, the bureau noted. The NV “will leverage the state’s existing processes so that Lifeline consumers in California can continue to apply using a streamlined state application process for both federal and state benefits,” the bureau said. Consumers who want standalone broadband will be verified by the NV rather than their eligible telecom carriers starting Dec. 18, it said. The NV will also handle reverification of existing broadband subscribers on that date, it said. The NV fully launched Wednesday in Texas and Oregon (see 2010190050).
