CAMIR-Air Amendment 4 (December 2006) Posted to CBP Web Site

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site Amendment 4 (December 2006) to the Customs Automated Manifest Interface Requirements (CAMIR) for air (CAMIR-Air).

According to CBP, the purpose of the CAMIR-Air is to specify the procedures to be followed by importing trade community members interested in participating in the Air Automated Manifest System (AMS).

CBP states that the CAMIR-Air provides the basic specifications and record formatting rules for the following types of Air AMS participants: (a) air carrier; (b) service center; (c) deconsolidator/Container Freight Station (CFS); and (d) freight forwarder.

Changes Made in Amendments 4:

According to CBP, Amendment 4 made the following changes to the CAMIR-Air:

  • Record Identifier Air Waybill (AWB) (not FSQ/FSC) - made edits in Note 2 and Note 5
  • Record Identifier Air Waybill (AWB) (FSQ/FSC messages only) - added new Note 2 and changed existing Notes 2 and 3 to Notes 3 and 4, respectively
  • Added new Record Identifier Hold/Release/Denied Entry Information (HLD)
  • Record Identifier Transfer (TRN) - made edit in Note 2
