The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a notice soliciting nominations for membership on the National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection (NACMPI). FSIS states that each member is expected to serve no less than a two-year term and notes that it plans to fill 16 to 18 vacancies on the NACMPI). 2. OFAC Final Rule Amends Iranian Sanctions to Prohibit Transactions With Bank Saderat

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a final rule, effective September 8, 2006, which amends the Iranian Sanctions Regulations (31 CFR Part 560) to effectively prohibit all transactions directly or indirectly with Bank Saderat. 3. Presidential Determination Allows Transfers of Defense Articles/Services in Support of Sudan Security Program

The President has issued a determination which states that transfer of defense articles and services in support of the Sudan Security Sector Transformation (SST) Program are in the national security interests of the U.S. The determination delegates certain authorities with respect to these transactions to the Secretary of State. 4. FDA Posts Various Notices to its Web Site

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has posted the following notice to its Web site:

August 2006 Revised Version of Compliance Policy Guide. FDA has posted to its Web site its revised version of its Compliance Policy Guide on Registration of Food Facilities Under the Bioterrorism Act, which adds references to U.S. Code for the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, etc. in its model registration request letter. 5. Shipping Coordinating Committee Meeting on 50th Session of IMO Subcommittee

The State Department announced that its Shipping Coordinating Committee (SCC) is scheduled to hold an open meeting on September 20, 2006 in Washington, DC to prepare for the 50th session of the International Maritime Organization Sub-Committee on Stability and Load Lines and on Fishing Vessels Safety to be held at the International Coffee Organization in London from April 30-May 4, 2007. 6. OFAC Designates One Individual and Two Entities Under EO 13224

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a notice announcing that, effective September 7, 2006, Al-Shami, Husayn (aka AL-SHAMI, Haj Husayn, etc.) of Lebanon is a newly-designated individual, and Bayt Al-Mal (aka Bayt Al-Mal Lil Muslimeen, etc.), et al. and Yousser Company for Finance and Investment of Lebanon are newly-designated entities whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to Executive Order (EO) 13224 (Blocking Property and Prohibiting Transactions With Persons Who Commit, Threaten to Commit, or Support Terrorism).
