Exchange Conference to focus on ACE's benefits/impact on business operations, etc. CBP states that the conference will educate the trade community on ACE, its benefits and impact on business operations, and how to apply for ACE. CBP explains that ACE is the new U.S. trade processing system designed to consolidate and automate border processing to significantly enhance border security and foster U.S. economic security through lawful international trade and travel. ACE will eventually replace the Automated Commercial System as the cargo processing system of record for CBP. CBP stresses that it is important for importers, brokers, and carriers to understand the many new legal policy and requirement changes underway.

Conference to separately address issues of importers/brokers and truck carriers. CBP states that the first segment of the ACE conference will focus on issues important to importers and brokers (August 15th and 16th) while the second half will cover topics of interest to the truck carrier community (August 16th and 17th).

The topics to be discussed include the following:

Overview of ACE and the ACE Secure Data Portal;

Legal Policy Issues;

Paying duties and fees on a monthly basis;

Trade reports which provide insight into compliance and financial data;

Advanced Cargo Rule to electronic manifest;

Operational impacts on mandatory advanced manifest; and

Communications between filer and carriers

Registration is free but a limited number of spaces are available. CBP notes that registration for the Exchange Conference is free and will open soon on its web site. In addition, CBP notes that there is a limited number of spaces available and that registration will be taken on a first come, first serve basis, so interested parties should continue to visit CBP's web site for updates.
