CAMIR-Intermodal Amendment 1 Posted to CBP Web Site

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site Amendment 1 (dated March 2006) to the October 2005 Customs Automated Manifest Interface Requirements (CAMIR)-Intermodal.

According to CBP, the purpose of the CAMIR-Intermodal is to specify the procedures to be followed by importing trade community members interested in participating in the Automated Manifest System (AMS).

CBP states that the CAMIR-Intermodal provides the basic specifications and record formatting rules for participation in the Automated Commercial System (ACS)/AMS.

Changes Made in Amendment 1:

According to CBP, Amendment 1 made the following changes to the CAMIR-Intermodal:

  • Transaction File Sequencing Rules - changed reference to "Appendix C" to "Appendix A."

Input to Customs and Border Protection

  • Record Identifier P01 - Made edits in data element "District/Port of Unlading Code" description - "Appendix G" to "Appendix E".
  • Record Identifier B01 - Made edits in various data elements.
  • Record Identifier B02 - Made edits in introduction paragraph - "an optional" to "a mandatory". Made edits in various data elements.
  • Record Identifier B04 - Note 1 - Added new code "OL".
  • Record Identifier N03 - Made edits in data element "Country Code" description - "Appendix I" to "Appendix G".
  • Record Identifier - I01 - Made edits in various data elements.
  • Record Identifier C01 - Note 1 changed "Appendix K" to "Appendix I".
  • Record Identifier C02 - Made edits in data element "Foreign Ports" - "Appendix K" to "Appendix F".
