CBP Administrative Messages, Web Postings, Etc.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an administrative message stating that the main office building in the Port of Buffalo, NY will be moved from the Dulski Federal Building to the Larkin Building, 726 Exchange Street, Suite 400, Buffalo, NY 14210. As a result, a snow day will be granted for the closure of the port on October 21, 2005 to accommodate the move to the new location. 2. List of Import Specialist Team Assignments for Memphis, TN

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site a list of importer specialist team assignments for Memphis, Tennessee that are effective October 17, 2005. CBP has issued an updated list of state and regional economic integration organizations who have met the minimum requirements of the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme as of September 20, 2005. 4. ATPDEA and CBTPA Short Supply Designation for Certain Apparel Made from Certain Ring Spun Yarns

CBP has posted TBT-05-028 regarding the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreement's (CITA) determination that certain compacted, plied, ring spun cotton yarns, with yarn counts in the range from 42 to 102 metric, classified in HTS 5205.42.0020, 5205.43.0020, 5205.44.0020, 5205.46.0020, and 5205.47.0020, for use in men's and boys' woven cotton trousers and shirts as well as women's and girls' woven cotton trousers, shirts, andblouses, cannot be supplied by the domestic industry in commercial quantities in a timely manner under the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA) and the U.S.-Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA).

For subject apparel made from the above yarns, CITA states that claims for short supply under HTS 9820.11.27, 9821.11.10, and 9821.11.13 may be accepted on or after October 5, 2005, provided the apparel articles meet certain specified requirements. CBP Frontline News. This October 14, 2005 CBP publication mostly focuses on immigration and contraband issues. Among other things, it notes that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has extended more stringent border-crossing rules to the three highway entry points to Alaska, and that many foreign visitors will now have to submit fingerprint scans and digital pictures before crossing into the state at specified ports.
