According to a U.S. Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel (USA-ITA) Textile Development Memo, on February 7, 2005, the government filed a motion with the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) seeking a 'stay' of the preliminary injunction (that prevents CITA from taking further action on threat-based China safeguard petitions), pending consideration of is appeal, which they also asked for from the CIT, and the CIT denied. 2. Two Shippers' Associations Re-File Appeals on FMC's NSA Final Rule
The Journal of Commerce Online reports that the International Shippers' Association (ISA) and the American Institute for Shippers' Associations (AISA) have re-filed appeals asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia to review the Federal Maritime Commission's (FMC's) final rule on Non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) Service Arrangements (NSAs). Both groups originally filed their cases with the Court in January 2005, but withdrew them pending an FMC decision on their petitions. 3. AMS Announces National Organic Standards Board to Meet Feb. 28-Mar. 3
The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued a notice announcing that the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) will hold an open meeting in Washington, DC from February 28 - March 3, 2005. 4. State Department's Shipping Coordinating Committee to Meet Feb. 25th
The State Department has issued a public notice announcing that the Shipping Coordinating Committee will conduct an open meeting on February 25, 2005. in Washington, DC. The primary purpose of this meeting is to prepare for the 13th Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Sub-Committee on Flag State Implementation to be held from March 7-11, 2005 in London, England.
