U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced that the tariff-rate quota (TRQ) for Canadian cheddar cheese as provided for in HTS Chapter 4, Additional U.S. Note (AUSN) 18, which opened on Monday, January 3, 2005, did not oversubscribe at the opening. CBP has issued a notice on CITA's designation of certain woven, 100% cotton napped fabrics, of certain specifications, classified in HTS 5209.31.6050, for use in shirts, trousers nightwear, robes, dressing gowns, and woven underwear, as in short supply ("commercially unavailable") under the U.S.-Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA). 3. CBP Grants Snow Day at Port of Buffalo for January 4, 2005
CBP has issued an ABI administrative message stating that due to the closing of the Dulski building because of electrical problems, a "snow day" has been granted for Buffalo (Port 0901) for Tuesday, January 4, 2005. Accordingly, an additional day will be granted to all filers for Port Code 0901 for the payment of any duties due on January 4, 2005. 4. CBP Posts Testimonials from the Trade Regarding ACE

5. Travel Tips for Arriving Foreign Students & Exchange Visitors
CBP has issued a press release stating that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued important reminders to assist the estimated 200,000 foreign students and exchange visitors who are registered in the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and are expected to arrive in the U.S. for the spring semester. 7. Weekly Quota Commodity Report as of December 30, 2004
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued its weekly quota commodity report as of December 30, 2004. This report includes tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) on various products such as beef, tuna, sugar, dairy products, peanuts, cotton, cocoa powder, tobacco, certain JFTA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA TRQs, etc. This report also includes the AGOA, ATPDEA, CBTPA, NAFTA, SFTA, and UCFTA tariff preference levels (TPLs) for qualifying apparel and/or other textile articles, the TRQs on worsted wool fabrics, etc. (CBP's weekly quota commodity report, dated 12/30/04, available at http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/import/textiles_and_quotas/commodity/)
