U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a final rule, effective September 13, 2004, that amends 19 CFR Part 101 by extending the geographical limits of the port of Chicago, IL to include parts of the City of Elwood, IL. 2. CBP Proposed to Extend Geographical Limits of Port of Rockford, IL

CBP has issued a proposed rule in which it proposes to amend 19 CFR Part 101 to extend the geographical limits of the port of Rockford, IL to include the City of Rochelle, IL. According to CBP, the Union Pacific Railroad Company has a new intermodal facility in Rochelle, IL. Comments on CBP's proposed rule are due by October 12, 2004. 3. FDA Issues Federal Register Notice Announcing Availability of PN Contingency Plan

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published a notice in the Federal Register announcing the availability of a contingency plan that provides guidance on submitting prior notice (PN) of imported food during system outages affecting the applicable FDA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program systems. 4. FDA Issues Federal Register Notice on Availability of Revised PN Compliance Policy Guide

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published in the Federal Register a notice announcing the availability of a revised compliance policy guide on the FDA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strategy for enforcing certain requirements of the Bioterrorism Act, including prior notice (PN) of all food imported or offered for import into the U.S. (See ITT's Online Archives or 08/13/04 news, 04081305, for BP summary of this revised guide.)
