1. Deadlines Urged for DHS Terror Fixes
According to the DHS Undersecretary for Border and Transportation Security, DHS is already developing a broad plan and individual strategies for each transportation mode, with the work expected to be completed by the end of 2004.

2. Coast Guard to Meet with Members of Maritime Industry on Sept 1st
The U.S. Coast Guard is announcing that it will hold an open meeting in Washington, D.C. on September 1, 2004 with members of the maritime industry to discuss the information sharing mechanisms used to allow federal government and the diverse members of the maritime industry to share threat information. The meeting will also discuss the need for a maritime sector coordinating entity. 3. USTR Notice on Enhancing the Transatlantic Economic Relationship
The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has issued a notice asking for written public input from U.S and European Union (EU) stakeholders by November 15, 2004 on concrete ideas on how to further transatlantic economic integration. 5. State Dept Redesignates Certain Philippine Terrorist Organization
The State Department is announcing that effective August 9, 2004, the Communist Party of the Philippines, also known as the CPP, also known as the New People's Army, also known as NPA, and also known as CPP/NPA is redesignated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization pursuant to Section 219(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended. 6. FDA and CBP Issue Identical Press Releases on Revised Compliance Policy Guide for Prior Notice, Delay in Prior Notice Final Rule, Etc.
