CAMIR-Air Amendments 5 and 6 Posted to CBP Web Site

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has posted to its Web site Amendments 5 (dated April 2004) and 6 (dated April 28, 2004) to the Customs Automated Manifest Interface Requirements (CAMIR) for air (CAMIR-Air).

According to CBP, the purpose of the CAMIR-Air is to specify the procedures to be followed by importing trade community members interested in participating in the Air Automated Manifest System (AMS).

CBP states that the CAMIR-Air provides the basic specifications and record formatting rules for the following types of Air AMS participants: (a) air carrier; (b) service center; (c) deconsolidator/Container Freight Station (CFS); and (d) freight forwarder.

Changes Made in Amendments 5 and 6:

According to CBP, Amendments 5 and 6 made the following changes to the CAMIR-Air:

  • Two new Message Line Identifiers were added - FDA Freight Indicator (FDA) and Error Report Flight (ERF)
  • New Appendix D was added (see below)

Message Line Identifiers

  • Edits were made in data element "Domestic/International Identifier" in Line Identifier TRN
  • New data element "Bonded Carrier ID" was added to Line Identifier TRN
  • Edits were made to Notes 2, 4, 5, and 6 of Line Identifier TRN

Air AMS Message Types

  • Edits were made throughout the chapter

Appendix A (Communication Definitions)

  • Two new IATA Airport Codes were added - CTB and HVR
  • Correction was made to IATA Airport Code IAH
  • New "Posting Code" 85, 87, and 88 were added
  • Edits were made to "Error Codes" 125
  • New "Error Codes" were added - 190, 191, 192, 193, 194, 195, and 196

Appendix C (Record Data Sets)

  • New data element was added - Bonded Carrier ID

Appendix D (Header Data Required for Transmission to/from CBP)

  • New Appendix D, entitled "Header Data Required for Transmission to/from CBP" was added
