CBP Updates List of Companies/Persons Offering Sea AMS Data Processing Services, Etc
U.S. Customs and Border Protection's (CBP's) Office of Information and Technology has posted a notice to its Web site containing (a) a list, updated as of January 14, 2004, of companies/persons offering Sea Automated Manifest System (AMS) data processing services to the trade community, and (b) the Sea AMS Respondent Checklist, as follows:

Timely, relevant coverage of court proceedings and agency rulings involving tariffs, classification, valuation, origin and antidumping and countervailing duties. Companies/persons offering Sea AMS data processing services. CBP lists the Service Centers, Port Authorities and Software Vendors that presently have the capability to provide master vessel operating common carriers (VOCCs)/non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs) with an interface with CBP. With regard to this list, CBP notes that inquiries concerning specific capabilities should be addressed to the individual organization and the selection of a particular data processing service is strictly an individual user decision.
According to CBP, this list will be updated periodically and was last updated as of November 6, 2003. (See ITT's Online Archives or 11/13/03 news, 03111320, for BP summary.) CBP explains that inclusions on this list do not constitute any form of an endorsement by CBP as to the nature, extent or quality of services which may be provided.
Sea AMS Respondent Checklist. CBP also includes a Sea AMS Respondent Checklist, which CBP states all new Sea AMS participants should complete.
